SAP

SAP is the world's largest enterprise ERP software vendor, providing integrated business management solutions covering finance, logistics, HR, manufacturing, and procurement. SAP S/4HANA (its current flagship), SAP Business One (SMBs), and older SAP ECC systems are deployed across hundreds of thousands of organizations worldwide, from mid-market companies to global multinationals.

SAP's financial module (FI) is one of the most powerful transaction processing systems ever built. Its strength lies in intra-system execution: recording transactions with precision, managing complex multi-entity accounting structures, supporting every accounting standard (IFRS, GAAP, HGB), and integrating with logistics, procurement, and HR in a unified data model.

The gap SAP leaves open in 2026 is cross-system, pre-decision financial verification. SAP is exceptional at recording what happens inside its own data model. It struggles with what happens outside: a supplier invoice arriving by email that needs to be validated against a price list maintained in a separate system before it is posted, a delivery note captured in a third-party WMS that needs to be reconciled with the invoiced quantities, or a cash flow from a bank feed that needs semantic matching against expected payments across multiple entities.

These are exactly the use cases where Phacet operates. In SAP environments, Phacet connects via SFTP or API to extract AP data, apply intelligent financial controls, and write verified outputs back into SAP without requiring a configuration change or IT project. The legacy ERP compatibility layer handles SAP ECC as comfortably as S/4HANA.

For DAFs managing SAP-based environments who have deferred financial control improvements because "touching SAP requires IT," Phacet's approach is precisely designed for this constraint: the agent layer sits outside SAP, reads its data, applies pre-payment controls, and returns verified data. SAP never changes. The finance team stops processing invoices that haven't been checked.
