A
Automation template

An automation template is a predefined structure that encapsulates the logic, rules and sequencing required to automate a specific financial process. Instead of building workflows from scratch, finance teams can rely on ready-made templates that formalise best practices: approval routing, matching logic, exception paths, data validation steps or escalation rules. These templates act as blueprints that accelerate deployment while ensuring consistency across entities, subsidiaries or business units.

In traditional finance systems, automation templates are rigid: they depend on static rule sets and require IT intervention to modify. As soon as a process changes, new supplier behaviours, updated compliance requirements, different document formats, the template must be manually rebuilt. This slows down iteration and limits automation coverage.

Phacet redefines the automation template by integrating it directly into the behaviour of autonomous AI agents. Instead of hard-coded workflows, templates become adaptive frameworks: the agent interprets documents, executes controls, reconciles entries and handles exceptions dynamically. Finance teams configure high-level rules while the agent manages the details, adjusting to real operational variability without needing constant redesign.

This flexible approach ensures that automation templates remain relevant even as processes evolve. They accelerate rollout across new teams, standardise controls, and ensure that every step, from data extraction to verification to posting, is executed reliably.

For finance leaders, intelligent templates unlock a scalable operating model: faster onboarding, fewer manual interventions and the ability to replicate high-performing workflows across the organisation. The value is particularly evident in purchase-to-pay controls, where templates guide agents to perform verifications aligned with internal policies, such as in supplier billing checks that prevent overpayments and strengthen financial governance.
