Workflow orchestration

Workflow orchestration refers to the coordinated management of interdependent tasks, systems and data flows within a process. Unlike simple automation, where a single task is executed independently, workflow orchestration ensures that each action happens in the right order, with the right logic, and with real-time visibility across the entire sequence. In finance, where processes cut across ERPs, banks, procurement tools and document systems, orchestration is essential to maintain control, consistency and compliance.

For modern finance teams, orchestration solves a structural problem: operational workflows rarely follow a single linear path. Exceptions arise, data must be reconciled, and multiple stakeholders intervene at different stages. Traditional automation tools struggle with this variability. Orchestration provides the framework to model these dependencies, govern transitions and enforce business rules across systems and teams.

Phacet elevates workflow orchestration by introducing autonomous AI agents capable of executing each step end-to-end, not just routing tasks. Agents interpret documents, match transactions, detect anomalies and escalate decisions when needed. Instead of manually stitching together dozens of rules, finance teams rely on agents that handle complexity dynamically while respecting the organisation’s internal controls.

This orchestration layer is also what allows Phacet to integrate seamlessly with ERPs, treasury systems and procurement tools. It synchronises data flows, triggers actions based on real-time insights and ensures that every step, whether review, approval or reconciliation, happens consistently across the finance ecosystem.

For CFOs and COOs, orchestrated workflows unlock a more predictable and scalable operating model: fewer manual handoffs, lower error rates, and processes that remain stable even as volumes increase. The impact becomes particularly visible in areas like cash reconciliation, where orchestrated agent-driven actions replace fragmented, spreadsheet-heavy routines.
